Vibrational spectra and normal coordinate analysis of the thionitrosyl complexes with Ni(II), Pd(II), Pt(II), and Co(II)

Abstract

The near and far i.r. and Raman spectra of the thionitrosyl complexes of Ni(II), Pd(II), Pt(II) and Co(II) are reported. In order to aid in band assignments, isotope shift data on 62Ni(S 2N 2H) 2 and Ni(S 2N 2D) 2 have been carried out. Normal coordinate analyses on the Ni(II), Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes have been carried out on these data using molecular parameters taken from X-ray data. Band assignments for the observed frequencies and isotopic shifts in the Ni complex are in good agreement and show an average error of one percent.
