Abstract

Vibrational infrared and Raman spectra of doped trans polyacetylene are interpreted on the basis of dynamical calculations which consider the system as a one-dimensional crystal containing structural disorder on the molecular level. Several types of structural defects have been studied. The spectroscopic evidence of topological solitons is not unique and an alternative model can be proposed.
