Abstract

Free vibrations of delaminated plates relative to post-buckled states have been investigated. The transverse shear deformation effects on natural frequencies and mode shapes are included in the analysis. Three types of natural modes—the local mode, the global mode and the general mixed mode—have been found in the post-buckling states. It is observed that the vibration characteristics have been influenced severely for plates with long and thin delaminations and that the transverse shear effect becomes important for plates with short and thick delaminations.
