Abstract

Vibration analysis can be used as an effective tool for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis for industrial machineries. In this paper the vibration analysis of induced draught (ID) fan is presented. The fan used in the boiler of a sugar factory is taken as case study in the current work. The vibration measurements of rotating parts of fan are taken at different intervals so as to ensure accuracy and repeatability. The main objective is to detect existence of any fault in the rotating parts and study vibration phenomena related to rotating machinery. The measurements from different fans are compared with each other to know the variation in vibration of the fans. The vibration signatures are studied to know the condition of fans. Vibration measurement is found to be an efficient tool for condition monitoring.
