Abstract

This paper focuses on the vibration of low-speed outer rotor permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM). Based on the finite element method and harmonic response, the vibration of 72 slots 32 poles fractional slot distributed winding (FSDW) and 27 slots 24 poles, 36 slots 32 poles fractional slot concentrated winding (FSCW) PMSMs with outer rotor are compared. The simulations demonstrate that the vibration of the 72s32p PMSM is smaller than that of 27s24p and 36s32p PMSMs because of its higher non-zero lowest spatial order of electromagnetic force. Through the comparison, vibration can be reduced through using different slot and pole number combinations or changing the shape of stator tooth for FSCW PMSM.
