Abstract

This investigation was undertaken at the suggestion of Professor Horsley, in order to determine the seat of origin of the fits in absinthe epilepsy and to find out what share the motor cortex or other portion of the cerebral hemisphere, the basal ganglia, cerebellum, or the centres in the medulla and spinal cord, might take in the production of the fit. For this purpose numerous lesions were made both in the brain and spinal cord of the cat, and absinthe administered immediately after, or after the lapse of days or weeks. The results of the absinthe stimulation were recorded by the graphic method.
