Abstract
Military veterans are employed in a variety of roles in libraries, from library security to library administration. This article explores how a military background impacts a library employee’s experience working in libraries, including the barriers that veterans encounter as well as the strengths that veterans bring to the library community. This article provides concrete, actionable suggestions that library administrators can implement in order to help their libraries become more veteran friendly, not only for patrons, but also for employees.
