Abstract
This article develops a new application of the concept of Impostor Phenomenon (IP) to entire organizations, as opposed to individuals, and outlines the ways in which library environments may be particularly susceptible to experiencing IP. Considering organizational challenges through the lens of IP may help libraries to overcome perceived obstacles and better celebrate collective successes. The authors use the mechanism of Organizational Anthropomorphism (OA) alongside sensemaking and systems thinking to develop the concept of Organizational Impostor Phenomenon (OIP), and then provide a practical guide for identifying possible signs of OIP and introduce strategies to address OIP in the library setting.
