Vesiculobullous Lesions: A Comprehensive Overview

Abstract

Vesiculobullous lesions are defined as a form of muco-cutaneous diseases in which both vescicles and bullae are evident. ‘Vesiculobullous’ sometimes termed as ‘Immunobullous’as decreased immune system of the body causes these diseases. These are either result of range of infections, decreased immunity, drug induced, hereditary or caused by mechanical injury. In all cases ulcerations occur due to rupture of lesions which will further make the diagnosis of lesions difficult to make. This overview will provide a knowledge about the vesiculobullous lesions along with the characteristic’s features affecting the mouth, complete etiopathogenesis, site of occurrence of lesions along with their recent advances in the identification of these lesions. This will also aid in differentially diagnosing the lesions which exhibit similar sign asvesiculobullous lesions but the histopathological examination and immunofluorescence lead to the definitive diagnosis of the lesions.
