Abstract
Phosphatidylserines were isolated from tissues of 18 species of higher plants by means of column and thin-layer chromatography. In their fatty acid compositions, studied by gas-liquid chromatography after methanolysis of the lipids, considerable amounts of very-long-chain saturated fatty acids (C 20–C 26) were found in all the plant tissues and very-long-chain monounsaturated fatty acids (C 22, C 23 and C 24) in some of the plants.
