Abstract
Several issues not addressed in previous work on plasma vertical position control are examined, as a radial position control for the Burning Plasma Experiment (BPX). The growth times for vertical motion are found to vary significantly for different current distributions. Preferred locations of flux-loops for use in feedback control are determined using asymmetric flux contours. In addition to the standard step response for vertical position control, ramp and random perturbation responses are examined to represent more typical control requirements. The radial position response is examined for a minor disruption and for outboard plasma boundary control for the ICH antenna coupling. Inner control coils are used for fast time scale control and the outer poloidal field coils are used for the slower time scale control. >
