Abstract
Yield and composition of green biomass and the leaf protein concentrate (LPC) from Veronica anagallis-aquatica L., a semi-aquatic weed, have been studied. The fresh biomass yield was 27–29 t ha −1, which yielded a total of 793.4 kg ha −1 crude protein in two cuts. The various fractions of LPC showed protein content ranging from 88.93 to 46.73% and digestibility ranging from 84.34 to 39.92%. The results suggest the promising potential of this plant for LPC production.
