Abstract

The attainable expansion ratio in hole flanging can be improved, by using an additional rigid tool, that produces a compressive stress in the forming zone. This maybe either a flat counterblock working in the direction of the sheet thickness, or a conical punch that works in the radial direction. Experimental tests showed, that it was possible in both cases to achieve higher limit changes of shape in comparison with the conventional hole flanging
