Abstract
A vehicle-to-vehicle communication and ranging system using the spread spectrum (SS) technique called spread spectrum boomerang transmission system has been proposed. In this system, a vehicle (vehicle-1) transmits its PN code to another vehicle (vehicle-2). Vehicle-2 replies to the PN code adding its information, and vehicle-1 gets the information of vehicle-2 and the distance between vehicles. However, this system cannot measure the location of vehicle-2 because each vehicle has one pair of receivers and transmitters. In the present paper, we propose a vehicle-to-vehicle communication and location system using the SS technique. In the proposed system, vehicle-1 has two receivers on each side of it, and the received signals of vehicle-1 have the phase difference related to position of vehicle-2, so, vehicle-1 can get not only the information of vehicle-2 and the distance between vehicles but also the location of vehicle-2.
