Abstract
Health education is defined as an active process of learning and training individuals and communities to use acquired knowledge of health in order to adopt and apply a proper attitude towards a healthy lifestyle and actively contribute to protecting one's own health and community health. The WHO suggests that health education is not just a dissemination of health information, but an active learning process through many experiences in life. Promoting health is the cultivation and improvement of life styles and other social, economic, and individual environmental factors that are beneficial to health. Health promotion should contribute to the improvement of health resources and living conditions and in this way strengthen health potential. Health promotion involves health education, but goes beyond (further) to it and applies to all activities aimed at improving the (pre-) health conditions. The aim of this paper is to point out the importance of health promotion - health promotion, through the process of training people to increase control over their health and to prove it through a selection of healthy behaviors. Preventive health care efforts are targeted at children and adolescents in order to create appropriate health habits, and also to individuals and groups at risk of specific illnesses in order to prevent their occurrence. Acquired skills will show willingness to cooperate with many partner organizations respecting the principles of team work, the principle of voluntariness and massiveness. At the same time, he will master the team work skills for carrying out many activities according to the Public Health Calendar. It should be emphasized the role of teachers, educators and professional associates in the education system, in the promotion of health, which implies the application of appropriate technologies for changing attitudes and behaviors towards particular health problems, changing risk behaviors, as well as finding the most effective ways to implement appropriate health education interventions in the public. Stated through general principles, health promotion involves the entire population in the context of daily life, working with people, for people, and not for people, focused on basic and immediate health factors, emphasizing the positive dimensions of health, ensuring the balance between the individual and the environment. Acquired skills will influence the adoption of healthy habits and maintaining healthy lifestyles in different population groups.
