Abstract

In solid solutions of SmFeO 3 with other rare-earth orthoferrites, the temperature range where the magnetic easy direction changes from the c to the a axis was found to be a smoothly varying function of the composition and a decrease of the anisotropy field of more than an order of magnitude has been observed at various temperatures.
