Abstract
Superoxide dismutase levels were estimated in eggs, larvae and pupae of the fruit fly Ceratitis capitata , as well as in adult flies. No changes occur in the first three stages, but development of the adult fly is accompanied by a large increase in mitochondrial superoxide dismutase per gm of material, and a much smaller relative increase in the cytoplasmic enzyme.
