Abstract
El motivo llamado ‘Aristóteles y Filis’ se talló en sillerías góticas de templos europeos muy distantes. Pero esta sólo es una de las soluciones iconográficas que varían el mismo ‘tema de encuadre’ en las representaciones. Tras hacer un repaso por algunos problemas de la investigación que trata con estas esculturas, atendemos a dos misericordias de la sillería de Zamora que versionan el tema del cabalgado: aquella que representa a unos peculiares Aristóteles y Filis, y otra que representa un castigo escolar. Para considerar el sentido expresado a través de las formas que relacionan entre sí ambas escenas en coro, acudimos a otras representaciones que modulan el mismo discurso y comparten mecanismos figurativos.
