Abstract
We study numerically the imaginary part of the effective ac conductivity as well as its probability distribution in the limit of vanishing losses in two-dimensional composites. The results show, in this limit, strong fluctuations with a symmetric probability distribution centred at zero. Since the real part of the ac conductivity was also found to vanish in this limit (no dissipation), further discussions are provided on the interpretation of such fluctuations in terms of the field energy in the sample.
