Abstract
Recent molecular beam measurements of integral and total differential cross sections are reviewed with particular emphasis on the information content which the glory and diffraction patterns bear on interatomic and intermolecular forces. High accuracy potentials are derived for rare gas-rare gas dimers. The anisotropic interactions of rare gases with ground state open shell atoms (N, 0 and F) and diatomic molecules (N2, 02 and NO) are also investigated. A discussion is given of new advances on the extraction of details of the interaction from cross section data: An adiabatic representation with nonadiabatic corrections within the Coupled States scheme is proposed and tested.
