Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging ( DTI)on judgment of the nature and invasiveness of glioma and the relationship with pathologic immuno-histochemistry,in order to provide imaging evidences for developing glioma operation scheme. Methods Seventy-eight patients with different grade glioma underwent conventional magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI)and DTI scans. FA maps,MD map and reconstruction of diffusion tensor imaging( DTT)were drew. And 30 healthy volunteers served as control group. The MD value,FA value,IRS value and PI value of different grade gliomas, and the relationship with the nature and invasiveness of glioma were compared. Results There was no significant difference in tumor necrotic area MD value or rMD value between high-grade group and low-grade group( P ﹥0 . 05 ). While the MD values and rMD values in tumor parenchyma and peritumoral edema region of high-grade group were lower than those of low-grade group(P﹤0. 05). There was no significant difference in FA value in tumor parenchyma, tumor necrotic area or peritumoral edema region between high-grade group and low-grade group( P﹥0 . 05 ). While there was significant difference in rFA value in tumor parenchyma, tumor necrotic area and peritumoral edema region between high-grade group and low-grade group( P﹤0 . 05 ). IRS value and PI value increased with the glioma grade. Conclusions Magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging has an important value on the diagnosis and analysis of glioma,it can more accurately determine the condition of the patients, understand the degree of the malignancy of the tumor, and provide imaging evidences for the development of glioma surgery program, judgement of the surgery effects and prognosis observation.
