Abstract

The recently developed Intermediate Energy Activation File IEAF-2001 and the inventory activation code Analytic and Laplacian Adaptive Radioactivity Analysis (ALARA) have been tested in a computational benchmark with a D–T fusion neutron spectrum against the European Activation System EASY-2001, extensively used below 20 MeV, and in an integral activation experiment with a d-Li (IFMIF) neutron spectrum. Agreement in general is good. The suitability of IEAF-2001 library for activation analyses in the energy domain up to 55 MeV was demonstrated with the need for improvements of some specific cross sections. Application of ALARA/IEAF-2001 to a comparative study of activation and transmutation processes in Eurofer steel irradiated in the IFMIF high flux test module and in a fusion Demo reactor first wall has shown their general similarity, the specific quantitative differences being caused by the higher neutron energies produced in IFMIF.
