Abstract

Vaginal Small Bowel Prolapse with Incarceration as a Late Complication after Hysterectomy Spontaneous rupture of the vaginal vault is a rare event. Patients at risk are postmenopausal. Very often they show symptoms of an enterocele or have been vaginally operated before. Treatment is always by surgery. We report on a case of small bowel prolapse after hysterectomy 4 years ago. The intestinum was reponated by abdominal approach, but a partial resection of the small bowel was not avoidable. The possible late complications after hysterectomy are discussed. According to literature we did not find many similar cases.
