A spontaneous rupture of the vaginal vault with small intestine prolapse as a late complication after hysterectomy is a rare event. Risk factors are postmenopausal status, previous vaginal hysterectomy and symptoms of enterocele. We report on a case of a vaginal small bowel prolapse after hysterectomy one year ago. The intestinum was reponated by vaginal approach. A partial resection of the small bowel was not necessary. Accept a short subileus attack two days after operation the postoperative course was without complications. According to literature there are only a few similar cases.
