Abstract

The author reviews the use of vaginal estrogen for postmenopausal women affected by the genitourinary syndrome of menopause, explaining that it is safe and effective for most and that women’s health nurse practitioners are well positioned to recognize the need for vaginal estrogen, educate the patient on safety concerns, and prescribe it when indicated.
