Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to know the scientific production about the topic of vaccination, contributing to the performance of nursing in Primary Health Care Methods: Literature review. The search was based on the Virtual Health Library, where the following descriptors were used: nursing; primary health care; and vaccines. As a secondary source, books were made available at the Unifran library, five articles, two published theses and three official documents were selected between 2011 and 2016. Results: The National Immunization Program (PNI) is an international reference, its actions have been contributing to improve the quality of care. Despite the positive results, the literature presents deficiencies in this service. The lack of training of professionals, knowledge about adverse events after vaccination and the technical standards of the PNI is a cause for concern. The studies surveyed showed the professional lack of preparation of the team regarding the compliance with the established operational norms and the approach of the clientele. Conclusion : Further studies are suggested that bring innovations to the training process of professionals working in vaccine rooms. It deserves attention the creation of bonds between the teams and families, since in a way, it will be able to guarantee the vaccination in day and good results of the PNI.
