Abstract

he aim of the article is to present the ways in which opera exists in 1983 Federico Fellini’s film E la nave va (And the Ship Sails On). The research is aimed at proving the thesis that Fellini’s film is a film about opera – opera as a medium, as an institution and as a social custom. It is the film that follows operatic conventions and is made with the help of operatic means. The film in which opera becomes the structure of the film narrative.
