Abstract

The deregistering of University of the West Indies students for the inability to pay fees for academic year 2006/7, has now become the norm at the UWI Mona campus, similar to tourist visiting Emancipation Park, the Bob Marley Museum or Liberty Hall (The Marcus Garvey Museum in down town Kingston) in Jamaica. The issue is to be examined from two different points of view: 1. The Quality of The Leadership at the Level of the Guild of Students? 2. An education system which does not clearly define student needs, to put it euphemistically.
