Abstract

The electron absorption spectra of alkylvinyl chalcogenides (CH2=CHEAlk, E = S, Se, Te) were analyzed with consideration of the photoelectron spectroscopic data. The following sequence of electronic transitions was found in their UV spectra: $$\begin{gathered} (S):\pi \to \sigma ^ \circ< \pi \to \pi ^ \circ< \pi \to np \sim \pi \to \sigma ^ \circ , \hfill \\ (Se):\pi \to \sigma ^ \circ< \pi \to \pi ^ \circ \sim \pi \to ns< \pi \to \sigma ^ \circ< \pi \to np, \hfill \\ (Te):\pi \to \sigma ^ \circ< \pi \to \sigma ^ \circ< \pi \to ns< \pi \to \pi ^ \circ< \pi \to np. \hfill \\ \end{gathered}$$
