Abstract

This research explores the use of image processing and color analysis as a reliable approach for evaluating para rubber color quality. An automated color comparator prototype, based on the CIELAB color method and employing various image processing algorithms, is introduced. The research aims to enhance the precision of color analysis for block para rubbers (BPRs), a critical raw material in the rubber industry, impacted by environmental conditions during the sun-drying process. The study follows international standards for BPR specimen preparation and employs an image acquisition system, threshold techniques, and algorithms for color analysis. The proposed method aligns with Rubber Research Institute standards. The outcomes demonstrate the effectiveness of the automated system in accurately assessing the color values of BPRs, providing valuable insights for the rubber industry. This image processing technique offers advantages in natural rubber production for products requiring specific color characteristics.
