Abstract

This study discusses the methodology of applying the digital ortho-rectified images of aerial photos for the temporal landscape analysis. GIS contributes to the interpretation of ortho images by integrating the various thematic data and field records, so that the land use and vegetation are effectively mapped. At the same time, the spatial analysis of GIS also contributes to detect the temporal changes of landscape derived from the ortho image interpretation. In this paper, the effectiveness of this method is shown on the model area where the wide grasslands are distributed on the mountain slopes in the Hiruzen Highland, Okayama Prefecture.
