Abstract

Air, water, and soil pollution represent a threat for the ecosystem and human health. To preserve a healthy environment, it is necessary to implement conservation strategies and carry out continuous ecosystem monitoring. Parasites, used as bioindi-cators, can help with this task. These organisms are key components of biodiversity, and their presence, absence, and diversity provide information about the health status of the ecosystems. Additionally, some of these organisms can be useful for detecting conta-minants in the environment, as they can accumulate high concentrations of chemical pollutants.
