Abstract

Introduction: Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites and Transsexuals were only noticed by health policies with the advent of the HIV and AIDS epidemic and became a case of public health. In 2013, the National Policy for the Comprehensive Health of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites and Transsexuals (LGBT) was launched, instituted by Ordinance No. 2,836 and is also a landmark in recognizing their demands in conditions of vulnerability. Objective: To survey the studies developed based on participatory research, intervention and focus groups that address the health issue of the LGBTI + population. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review study. The search and reading took place between the months of April / 2021 to May / 2021 in the databases PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, VHL Regional Portal, Cochrane, Google Scholar, with descriptors: “LGBT people” AND “participatory research community-based” OR “minority health ”. The search for the material took place in four stages: the first was the search through the descriptors, where 614 articles were found; the second phase applied the filters - language (Portuguese, English and Spanish), type of study (qualitative research), and time interval (last 5 years - 2016 to 2021), decreasing to 228 articles; in the third phase, there was a thorough analysis of the titles that were compatible with the purpose of this review, and then the abstracts were read to confirm this compatibility according to the inclusion criteria: it had to be a participatory research, intervention research, focus groups and involving LGBTI + people. Results: 26 articles were selected, the rest were excluded because they were not surveys aimed at LGBTI + people, outside the estimated time interval, or another type of study. Conclusion: The approaches used by the authors are of paramount importance, the great challenge of applicability would vary in context and territory, since most of the selected researches were not from national literature. Thinking about the difficulties of applicability and reproduction in Brazil would be a challenge, since the LGBTI + population, even with a specific policy, are still stigmatized, have their rights harmed, and are daily treated inhumane and unequal ways.
