Abstract
The study was carried out using the method of pulsed electromagnetic sounding (PEMZ) to determine the accumulation of coal methane in one of the sections of the coal basin San Juan (USA) using the Phoenix-1 station. Based on the results of studies of the area of the indicated coal basin, criteria for the separation of planar anomalies promising for gas production from coal seams located at shallow depths, as well as gas migration paths through weakened zones, were obtained. The hydrocarbon source is much deeper (1400 - 1700 m in depth). The FEMZ method allows you to localize the deep source and vertical zones along which gas migration occurs.
