Abstract

The article considers different approaches towards the using of smart technologies in education in general, and at the classes of foreign languages in detail. It also mentions the attitude and support given to smart technologies in education by Russian competent bodies. The elements of smart education as well as the methods appropriate to apply when learning are mentioned. The article also shows the practical experience of using information technologies in the learning process at Nizhny Novgorod State Engineering and Economic University. The opportunities of smart education for students learning foreign languages as well as the ways to use different resources are highlighted. The positive and negative aspects of using smart technologies in education are given.
