Abstract

The purpose of this article is to use the example simse game simulator on practical lessons from the «Professional Programming Engineering Practice» to show which professional soft competencies the future engineer-programmers are developing. Research methods used: theoretical (analysis, comparison, classification, systematization, generalisation) − for studying scientific literature on the problem of research, establishing the essence and structure of the professional competencies of future engineers-programmers. This article clarifies the concept of «professional soft competencies of future engineer programmers», «game simulator», «game simulation». Some competencies are given to professional softwares. It is explained why the availability of such competencies is important for the future professional activity of program engineers. The author’s technique of using gaming simulators for forming professional soft competencies of future engineer programmers is proposed, and its separate components are considered and described: purpose, content, means, forms and methods. The main methods within this method are described: project method and adaptive learning, simulation training and situation modelling, and testing. Each of these methods is described in the article. Different forms of organization of work of students are considered in the framework of this methodology: trainings, practical classes, independent work, consultations, tests. The use of SimSe Simulator on practical classes as a means of forming professional soft competencies of future engineer programmers is considered. It is grounded which professional soft competencies are formed when studying the discipline «Professional practice of software engineering» using SimSe game simulator.
