Abstract

The World Wide Web has brought a revolutionary change in the way Internet users benefit from the multitude of tools that allow them to search for information, exchange data, collaborate and interact with each other. In the field of education, education systems should no longer be limited to the narrow confines of formal processes and programmes, but should incorporate new technologies. Motivated by this trend, this paper provides an overview of the Semantic Web and examines its potential pedagogical uses and benefits in the field of education, taking into account various research challenges, models and structures.
