Abstract
We transform the Bethe-Salpeter equation for two fermions into an equivalent Salpeter equation, with a 3D potential directly computable from a series of reducible and irreducible Feynman graphs. We present a perturbation calculation of the energy spectrum, taking Salpeter's equation as the unperturbed equation. We compare this approach with the 4D approach of Bodwin and Yennie. We also compare it, briefly, with other 3D reduction methods, including the conclusions of a preceding work about the various one-body limits.
