Abstract

AbstractWe present the deterministic linkage of short and long gold nanorods into one‐dimensional (1D) alternating nanorod chains in a head‐to‐head manner using click reactions. By precisely controlling the surface chemistry, we achieve orientation‐specific and robust covalent linkage between nanorods with high‐product yield. The optical response of the alternating nanorod chains exhibits Fano‐like resonances. This method enables the high‐throughput production of covalently linked plasmonic particle networks consisting of heterogeneous nanoparticles with specifically chosen spectral responses.
