Abstract
Abstract People recovering from sexual addiction/cotnpulsivity may become adept at identifying unhealthy and dangerous sexual behaviors, but still be confused about what constitutes healthy sexuality. This article introduces the Bridge Model of Healthy Sexuality, which uses the metaphors of the Bridge, the Sexual House, and Foundation Stones to describe the process of creating healthy sexuality. A 10-week psychoeducation group for recovering sexual addicts and sexual abuse survivors is described that incorporates the Bridge Model to assist group members in taking the next step toward claiming their healthy sexuality. Ideas for further use of the Bridge Model are discussed.
