Abstract

1. Oxidation-reduction systems containing benzoyl peroxide and an organic reducing agent initiate addition and telomerization reactions of 1-octene with carbon tetrachloride at 25–45‡. The following were used as organic reducing agents: hydroxymethyl p-tolyl sulfone, triethanolamine, and dibutyl phosphite. 2. The use of additions of iron and copper compounds to the benzoyl peroxide — hydroxymethyl p-tolyl sulfone system makes it possible to increase the yields of products and to carry out the reaction at room temperature.
