Abstract

Transfer RNA and denatured DNA have been coupled by means of a water-soluble carbodiimide derivative to the Fab′, pepsin-derived monovalent anti-bacteriophage T4 antibody fragment. These conjugates reacted with bacteriophage T4 to yield immunologically modified, still viable, bacteriophage preparations. Such preparations could be inactivated by anti-nucleic acid antibodies, and also by antibodies elicited to various synthetic polynucleotides but not by antinucleoside and anti-dinucleotide sera.
