Abstract

We conducted the experimental parametric studies of the wind wheel aerodynamic characteristics (of Savonius rotor type) under conditions of non-reversible motion. We estimate influence of wind wheel elongation, number of blades, and their shapes on the wind energy utilisation factor. We showed that in the course of experiments with wind wheels in the wind tunnels account must be taken of flow boundaries influence on their aerodynamic characteristics. We developed the nonlinear flexible model for the wind wheel blade, that includes elements of geometric dimensional optimisation and makes it possible to simulate numerically the non-stationary processes of elastic interaction between the wind wheel and the airstream, and also to optimize the shape parameter and control in accordance with the given criteria. Also presented is the variant of electric power supply system for the wind-driven power plants with different values of output voltage, power, and alternate and direct current.
