Abstract Models for the evaluation of total diffuse and specular reflectance and transmittance components for scattering samples measured on an integrating sphere are presented. It is demonstrated that for typical solar energy surfaces serious errors can be the result of incorrect interpretation of the detector signals. Methods to avoid such errors are presented.
