Abstract

A procedure has been developed for use in flow injection analysis when good contact between solid reagents and liquid samples is required. In the proposed procedure the reagents are suspended and stirred in a mixing chamber and vigorous contact of the reagents and samples has been achieved. With the use of a large stirring bar, the large degree of dispersion which is usually observed in a stirred chamber can be eliminated, and a relatively small dispersion of the sample zone is observed. This procedure has been applied to the determination of sulphate in waters from hot springs.
