Abstract
Introduction: A functional bed sheet monitor is a novel technology that was used with standard anesthetic monitoring in six dogs to assess measurement of heart rate (HR) and respiratory rate (RR). The functional bed sheet contains a sensing thread that captures information by contact, and communicates with a computer and monitor for viewing data. The functional bed sheet has potential for recording HR and RR noninvasively in anesthetized dogs. This is proof of concept for new technology.
