Abstract

Making the construction sector “greener” is one of the main challenges for policy makers, private companies and the scientific community. In the last years, several solutions were proposed in the literature and, among them, the use of the spread reinforcement in cement-based composites in partial replacement of ordinary steel. In this context, the present study summarizes the first results of an industrial R&D project aimed at evaluating the feasibility of using Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) mixtures in the production of new precast structural panels for electric cabins. The results show that the investigated FRC mixture are well suited to be utilized for industrial scale production of FRC panels characterized by reduced thickness and amount of steel.
