Abstract
The study of the textual and pictorial program of the pyramid of Pepi I revealed an important pattern: the king’s name is changing in the different chambers of his tomb. For the first time, unlike the case of his predecessors’ burials, the king is called in the texts by two names – by his personal name Pepi and by his throne name Merira. This article attempts to trace the distribution of two royal names in the space of Pepi’s pyramid and explain the way this was reflected in the texts of this tomb.
