Abstract

The crisis management simulation and planning system EEM KRIMA, operating at the Crisis Management Center (CMC) at Matej Bel University in the Slovak Republic, enables construction and simulation of crisis management steps and systems in critical situations after incidents or known threats have occurred that could result in possible urban disasters. In this chapter the authors describe the overall architecture of the crisis management system, step by step design of crisis management scenarios, simulation runs for tuning crisis management system using dedicated scenarios and, finally, the production phase of crisis management in three major distinct urban disaster case studies. Namely, an accident with a large number of casualties (e.g., transportation, chemical or nuclear accident), virus pandemic of swine influenza and a cyberspace ransomware attack on critical urban or state infrastructures.
