Abstract
The article is devoted to the history of city’s image formation and consolidation of communicative practices, using the design of a city center as a core of official life; square as a center of public communication and a modern supermarket as a city in miniature. It is concluded that in the course of history two processes interact: the differentiation of the urban population and the transformation of urban space.
